Got a phone call today from the MAGNOLIA FILM FESTIVAL asking if we'd like to enter "The Innocents" into their February festival. Sure why not. If they heard about our film from another fest it's the least we can do to enter it. And besides, they waive the fee.

The NEW YORK INT'L IND. FILM & VIDEO FESTIVAL left us a message today asking if we'd like to enter "The Innocents" into their Feb. festival. When festivals start calling you about your indie film it feels damn good, let me tell you. It lets you know, not only are you successfully getting the word out about your film (they heard about "The Innocents" at the Atlantic City Film Festival) but that you've made a film that really appeals to the festival circuit and audiences alike.

A lot has happened during the time in which we've been away. "The Innocents" has been accepted into both of the previously mentioned festivals, the New York Int'l Independent Film Festival and the Magnolia Film Festival. Both are in February. Magnolia, during the first week of Feb. and the NY Int'l Ind. during the second two weeks - it's a big one. We'll probably attend both fests and do an incredible marketing campaign for the NY Int'l Ind. Both fests will be premieres, Magnolia in Mississippi and of course the other, New York City.We also received the award from the Atlantic City Film Festival in the mail - it looks great. The first of many no doubt.

We've decided Katherine will be attending the Magnolia Film Festival but we haven't yet decided on the NY Int'l Ind. But we have decided to gear up for a major marketing campaign for NY. We'll be targeting dozens of companies and select people with a controlled series of revealing faxes about our award winning, LA Times lauded feature film, and oh yeah - buy more lollipops. When you're an independent filmmaker (NO DEEP POCKETS to carry you along) you want to get as much as you can for as little as possible. Anything you can do to make people remember your film will put you one step closer to getting people in the door. Think: Blair Witch Project. Nearly everyone in the country has heard about that film in some form or another - whether you liked it or not is an entirely different matter. But you know exactly what those three words refer to don't you - as well as that little stick figure symbol. Great Marketing indeed.
