The VALLEYFEST FILM FESTIVAL (March 9-12), Knoxville’s premiere fest,
offered our award winning film the lucrative spot of ‘OPENING’ their
annual event. Known for its vast attendance of filmgoers from across
the state, this years’ fest was no exception with four days beginning
March 9th at the Regal Cinemas in downtown Knoxville. After wrangling
last minute stragglers from the lobby into the theater, Valleyfest 2000
was kicked-off with "The Innocents". The audience was energized and the
screening was quite a success - no tech problems and nearly full house
including some local press.
What began with fireworks though ended by fizzling out when our
fullsized, color poster was unfortunately misplaced in the lobby. It
was apparently removed from a lightbox to accomodate another filmmaker
when it was never seen from again. No doubt a CRAZED fan decided to
bring it home with them. Too bad they didn’t ask first, we would have
autographed it for them - and asked for $80 bucks.
All things considered a pretty good fest. It is too bad about the
poster though. Now we’re without a large poster for our next festival
in April, our NINTH fest by the way. We’re going back to Mississippi,
this time for the CROSSROADS FILM FESTIVAL (April 6-9). Check back in a
few weeks to see what happens - ROBERT ALTMAN is supposed to make an
appearance to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award. (Check out Latest
