MARCO ISLAND FILM FESTIVAL (Oct 20-24). Off the southern tip of Florida lies an exotic island where white shelled beaches surround a small town community called Marco Island. What a beautiful place to hold a film festival. The opening night film is held on the beach and thereafter they're screened at Marco Movies. A very disticnt movie house in that it has full service theaters with a full kitchen. A perfect place to show "The Innocents."

After two very successfull TELEVISION INTERVIEWS on WEVU (viewable in the 'Press Room') and a tireless marketing strategy which included dozens of posters with LOLLIPOPS, a considerable BUZZ began to circulate about our film on the island and in the theaters. After a spontaneous appearance in a filmmaking Q&A (Katherine and I were asked to fill in for EMMY NOMINATED ACTRESS GWEN VERDON when she cancelled due to a slight illness) we successfully intrigued festival goers enough to pack both screenings Saturday, 23rd and Sunday 24th. The second being an official 'SOLD OUT' screening - one of only three during the entire festival. For more information on Marco click here for the 'Latest News'

Not bad for an indie feature with NO STARS in it - an element which gaurantees the audience nothing more than a familiar face. We knew that if we told the best STORY that we could and got people into the theaters that they'd do the rest. 'WORD OF MOUTH' is still the strongest tool any filmmaker has at their disposal.

Actually, when we got word of Sunday's 'SOLD OUT' screening Katherine was participating in a FILMMAKING PANEL called 'From Script to Screen' along with five other directors and producers. Needless to say we were very happy to get the news and quite surprised to see that within the packed audience were both Gwen Verdon and Don Most.

Both had their own films at the festival to promote. DON MOST (best known for portraying Ralph Malph on Happy Days) premiered his directorial debut "The Last Best Sunday" starring "Starmaps" Douglas Spain. And of course Gwen not only supported "Walking Across Egypt" - a film in which she gave another wonderful performance, but received the honor of accepting a LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD given to her by the festival. All in all, a great experience.
