The LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL ...our SIXTEENTH venue screening for The Innocents. Not bad for a first feature film with no stars.

This festival is not a traditional festival in that there are no competitive categories no traditional methods of advertising and press coverage. This is the festival you want ot be in if you simply want a screening in Los Angeles where you can invite various industry types. Of course the festival is open to the public but, even more than usual, it's up to the filmmaker to fill to the seats.

We screened Sunday, July 15 at 9:30 p.m. to nearly full house at the Bevery Hills Laemmle Theater. A perfect theater to screen since it's already known as an indie screening venue. The projection was great, something not always perfect in some festivals considering our feature is 16mm (though often mistaken for 35mm) and can be somewhat troublesome for some theaters to screen well.

All in all this isn't a great festival but if you are looking for a screening venue for your film, one to get the word out to industry buyers, other festivals and filmmakers this one will more than do it as long as you do ALL of the work to fill the seats and advertise.

This will probably be one of our last festivals as we begin to wrap up our circuit run with The Innocents consideraing distribution options and even more importantly pursuing pre-production of our next feature film entitled Butterflies & Lightning, a magical love story set in Spain. As that progresses we'll keep you informed.
