The GURL.com FILM FESTIVAL Sometimes the biggest pleasure of being part of any film festival is the company your in. In this case it was Kimberly Pierce with her Oscar nominated film Boys Don't Cry and producer Christine Vachon along with some of her films including Todd Solonds' Happiness. We were invited by the festival to be one of the closing nights films at the inaugural GURL.com film festival.

Katherine was also asked to participate in one of the panel discussions about filmmaking to be held in conjunction with the festival. She was one of half a dozen other filmmakers and artists participating in the panel held on Sunday, Dec 19 at 2:00pm. Katherine was asked to be part of this panel since she not only wrote and directed and starred in The Innocents but also co-produced and edited the film with Jon Bachmann.

The Innocents screened Tuesday, Dec 21 at 6:00pm to a very receptive audience at the Pioneer Theater in Manhattan. The festival was not as well attended as some other festivals we've been to but the turn out was very generous compared to some of the other screenings at the festival. The audience was extremely receptive and as usual there were tears as the end drew near.

Needless to say we were in good company at GURL.com, but the festivals reach was not as strong as its pull. The name attractions did bring some nice free press from the trades but the festival remained for the most part sparsely attended. Overall the festival was quite small. But give them a few years and they'll no doubt be packing them in with the big boys, or girls in this case. For a first year it was very successful, and of course, any fest really is a good fest. And wešve received a little press and some possible interest from a few publications for reviews and interviews. So as soon as we have them they'll be available on the website.

Our next screening is at Telluride...so check out next months screening info.
